Members of Congress representing Washington State have lead the way in voicing the importance of our nation’s public lands. To date, a total of 24 Republicans and Democrats representing 11 states have signed on to Co-Sponsor a pro public lands bipartisan resolution: one-third are from the Washington State alone.
However, two members of the Washington State Delegation, Rep. Herrera Beutler [R-WA-3] and Rep. McMorris Rodgers [R-WA-5] have yet to support this pro public lands resolution.
In February 2017, to combat the obvious recent outpouring of anti-public lands legislation Rep. Reichert (R-WA-8) and Rep. Lowenthal (D-CA-47) introduced H. Con. Res. 27. This bipartisan resolution expresses that America’s Federal public lands are national treasures that belong to all Americans. It also states that our public lands are important for local economies, job-building, hunting, fishing, critical habitat, cultural and religious groups, wilderness and solitude and that “once Federal public lands are unsustainably developed, many of those varied and invaluable attributes are lost indefinitely.”
Take a moment and write your member of Congress – let them know you appreciate their support for this positive resolution supporting public lands OR urge them to support H. Con. Res 27 if they haven’t yet signed on! Don’t worry – our action alert system will let you know who your representative is and whether or not they have signed on.
